MINEHEAD Under 7s took part in their first football tournament at the weekend and did really well before losing out in the final.

In their semi-final against Ruishton the home team got off to a good start when a pass in the first minute found Ace whose shot was saved but Tommy following up made no mistake making it 1-0

Ruishton came back well but keeper Rory kept them at bay. Midway through the first half Minehead had another chance but it went over the bar and it remained at 1-0 at the interval

In the second half the game was evenly contested, both teams had chances but there was no further score as Minehead ran out the 1-0 winners.

In the final Minehead faced Kingsdown Knights from Bridgwater who created pressure from the kick off and opened the scoring mid way through the first half, adding a second from a penalty just before the break.

Kingsdown continued to attack and added a third from a long range shot. Home keeper Oliver made some good saves but was unable to stop the fourth. The Minehead team kept challenging to the end and can be proud of the way they played. On the day they were beaten by a better side.
